Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other
John F. Kennedy
Life is a process of learning. We learn from our own experiences along with those we surround ourselves with. Like a sponge, we absorb the mistakes and weaknesses hoping they will help build future success. Those who truly learn through the process become great leaders in their own time. That is the case with Jack McPartlin. Growing up watching many successful teams and leaders before him, Jack, now a Senior, is modeling the behaviors of a truly great leader.
For months now, just like his past three high school off-seasons, Jack has taken advantage of the cages and weights at the BBC to prepare for the spring. Along the way, others have followed his lead and joined his routine. Jack has sparked a fire within Archbishop Williams Baseball that will certainly help their championship run this Spring. Not only has Jack helped his peers, but he has been coaching youth through the fall and now winter at the BBC. Bill Berman, BBC and Archbishop Williams Coach, said it best about Jack, “He is a great example of what we are trying to do at the BBC. Develop baseball players, but more importantly, great people. Jack’s development into an all-conference level shortstop at Archbishop Williams is extraordinary due to his relentless effort and work ethic over the last four years. Due to his strong character, we’ve added him to our coaching staff at BBC with our 13u team. That is the highest compliment I can give him; hiring him to work with our athletes.”
Jim Dolan, Head Coach at Archbishop Williams, also had to say, “He is the real deal. An outstanding student and ball player who has worked really hard to be where he is now. A JV call up on the 2018 State Championship Team, Jack set his sights on being starting shortstop last year. Jack did not disappoint as he batted over.300 and started every game leading the Bishops to 14 wins and the State Tournament. A team leader, jack should be a huge part of the team’s success this season. He has been an absolute blessing to coach and I can’t wait to see what this season has to bring.
Thank you Jack for all your hard work and tremendous leadership.
