february 2020 Athlete of the Month
“What lies behind you and what lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you.”
— Ralph Waldo Emerson
There is one person who comes into our facility always with a smile on his face. His smile makes all your fears, concerns, worries wash away. His joy in life, and the game of baseball, has helped build his confidence and allowed him to improve tremendously over the years. His name is Matt Gabriel and he is our February Athlete of the Month.
Matt has been with the baseball club from the beginning, and to be honest, this award is way overdue. Matt’s passion and work ethic towards the game have been a constant over the years. Matt has been involved in almost every clinic offered at the club. During these clinics, Matt has continually proven to be one of the hardest working individuals. His positive demeanor and respect towards others has not only increased his confidence, but also the confidence of those around him. Matt’s respect and appreciation towards his peers extends towards his relationship with BBC staff and instructors. His willingness to listen to coaches and make adjustments over the years and improve in all parts of the game. Matt McGrath has coached Matt at all different age levels and stated, “Matt is a prime example of someone who loves baseball. It’s easy for most kids to become distracted during drills at practice or throughout the course of a game. However, Matt, whether game or practice, is always listening and is the epitome of a great teammate, cheering on his peers whether winning or losing. His excitement for the game is the reason coaches love what they do.”
Matt’s passion for the game and his positive character are values that ensure future success. The staff at BBC always looks forward to seeing Matt and we hope that continues for years to come. Good luck Matt with everything.
